Savvy Solutions for a Sound Savant: Achieving Warm Intimacy for Wynn Casino Macau

Wynn Palace Macau, a design-led luxury casino resort, redeveloped its Gourmet Pavilion—a large-scale dining destination combining a central food hall alongside six intimate, sit-down restaurants.

With a strong in-house technical team already leading design and specifications, LSI was engaged as product partner and advisor, supporting the integration of Sonance and James audio solutions.

The Brief

Wynn’s expectations were notably high. Brand founder Steve Wynn has a love of sound and a legacy of prioritising optimum sound quality within his establishments. The Pavilion presented a dual challenge combining scale with intimacy. A large, circular communal dining area with very high ceilings required immersive, evenly distributed sound, while smaller restaurant spaces demanded a more refined, high-quality audio experience within limited footprints.

The brief called for deep, warm audio that would enhance dwell time without overwhelming conversation, requiring an astute approach that risked sound dissipating in the main hall or becoming intrusive in more intimate settings.

Refined AV Solutions for A Refined Restaurant Crowd

LSI worked alongside Wynn’s in-house team to refine product selection and system design, advising on how to best deploy customized Sonance and James solutions that fit within architectural constraints.

In the main pavilion, the strategy focused on bringing low-frequency sound closer to the listener, rather than losing impact through ceiling-mounted systems. Across the smaller restaurants, LSI supported the integration of compact, high-performance solutions that balanced space efficiency with acoustic quality.

Throughout, LSI provided guidance on customisation options from finishes and configurations to performance, helping the client navigate complex choices.

AV Solutions Designed to Preserve Aesthetics

A standout solution in the main dining area was the use of James PowerPipe subwoofers. These systems allowed subwoofers to be concealed within furniture, with flexible piping directing sound into the space to deliver rich, low-frequency audio exactly where it was needed, without any visual disruption.

In the smaller restaurants, Sonance small-aperture speakers combined both speaker and subwoofer into a single, ceiling-mounted unit. Designed to resemble downlights, they delivered full-range, high-quality sound while preserving ceiling aesthetics and saving space.

Refining the Final Experience

Beyond design and supply, LSI played a critical role in the final system tuning. Through on-site Equalization (EQ), the team adjusted frequency balance, by refining lows, mids, and highs to suit a hospitality environment where guests are dining, relaxing, and conversing.

This ensured music remained present yet unobtrusive, enhancing the atmosphere without competing with human interaction. The result is a cohesive soundscape where audio supports the overall experience and sound is felt rather than noticed.

Results

The Gourmet Pavilion achieves a carefully balanced acoustic environment across varied dining formats. The main hall benefits from warm, immersive sound, while individual restaurants marry clarity with intimacy.

By combining technical advisory, tailored product solutions, and final-stage tuning, LSI helped deliver an audio experience that aligns with Wynn’s exacting standards, while enhancing comfort, encouraging guests to linger, and reinforcing the brand’s reputation for excellence
